Cheboksarskiy / Shupashkar District is an administrative division (rayon) of the Chuvash Republic. The district`s administrative center is Kugesi (2002 population—11,658) is located 14 km from Chuvashia"s capital Cheboksary.
    The district was formed on September 5, 1927. It is situated in the north of Chuvashia, bordering the Mari El Republic in the north, Mariinskoposadskiy / Sĕntĕrvărri District to the east, Tsivilsky / Çĕrpӳ and Krasnoarmeyski Districts to the south, and Morgaushsky / Murkash District to the west.
    
    The Volga / Atăl River parts the district into a smaller trans-Volga area in the north, and a larger southern area which contains the majority of settlements.
