LEBEDEV, German [born April 28, 1913, village of Salapajkassi, Shupashkar/Cheboksarskiy rayon, Chuvashia - died on February 3, 1980, Shupashkar/Cheboksary] - known as composer, conductor. In 1935 German Lebedev graduated from the Chuvash Music and Drama College as choir conductor and composer (V.M.Krivonosov"s class). In 1943-75 conductor-chorus master of the Chuvash State Ensemble of Song and Dance, Chairman of Chuvash Chorus Society (since 1959). He"s the author of about 400 songs including "Song about Motherland" (now National Anthem of Chuvashia ), 13 vocal and dance suites (13, including "Meeting", "Monument", "Каj, kaj Ivana" (Marry, marry Ivan)); music to spectaculars of the Chuvash Drama Theatre.
