Sӗntӗrvӑrri Rayon's Şatrakassi has been closed for quarantine on June 17.

Villager Nikolai noticed noticed his cat behaving differently - it jump attacked adults - a week before the specialists of Rospotrebnadzor issued no animal was allowed to be brought out of the village for a month.

Not knowing what to do Nikolai traveled with his pet all the way to a veterinary clinic in the city. Upon examination the specialists rushed to tell the owner that he shouldn't have brought it in sick like that and that Nikolai should take it and leave.

Actually according to regulations they should have kept the animal because it would be quite apparent to a trained veterinary what it had - rabies! Instead they just prescribed to keep it separate from other animals.

When Nikolai came home he put the sick cat in a cage. It died in three days. The worried owner took the body of the dead cat to Roskomnadzor laboratory and finally learnt the cause of the disease, and not only that he helped contain the spread of rabies as Roskomnadzor issued a quarantine so that no animal would be taken out of the village for a month.

In Şӗnӗ Marat village of Komsomolski district of Chuvashia a special celebration took place. On April 28 every student showed up in school wearing Chuvash styled clothes commemorating the day of Chuvash Republic State symbols.

The day began with a joint Physical Education class which took an unusual form of learning Chuvash dance moves after a rhythmics teacher who was helped by volunteers.

After the morning exercise students divided into classes and each went into separate classrooms. The subjects were taught in a different manner on that day, each teacher connected his/her subject to the history of Chuvash Republic and its people. For example, in the English class students talked about their village in English. Geography was centered around the map of the republic.

The breaks weren't wasted either. The schoolchildren held mini contests on Chuvash Republic symbols. 10th and 6th beat other with their knowledge of the anthem, flag and anthem of Chuvashia.

The day went fast. After classes students assembled in the school square and after celebratory speech by the headmaster spent the rest of the time dancing Chuvash dances to garmon played by 6th-grader Roman Kiselev.

Old locks and keys

There is someone in Vӑrmar raion of Chuvashia who appreciates old items and collects them rather than throw away. Meet Sergei Grachev.

He has a real collection now. Made up of 19th century coins and banknotes, wooden tableware, bells, and keys... His countryside house turned into a museum.

An amazing person is Sergei Grachev. Someone who had a key to no lock would have thrown it away long time ago, but Sergei finds value in all old items.

His parents taught Sergei to appreciate antique from an early age. "There is no future without past", he was taught. And that is what brought up Sergei's passion for old stuff.

Many items in the "museum" are from grandma's treasure chest, such as şӑpata footwear, a loom, a drop spindle...

These items were passed down to Sergei Grachev from his father, who in return received them from his ancestors and relatives. The coins for instance are from 1811 and 1816. He was offered to sell them, but "How can you sell memories?" says Sergei. To him they are invaluable and he won't dare sell them because of his father who saw decided to keep them.

Sergei Grachev's friends and relatives always pleased come to see "the museum", and before the visit they raid their closets and cupboards and chests to see find something Sergei might value?
