Chuvash athlete Natalia Khlestkina participated in the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships held in Førde, Norway April 10-16.

Natalia lifted 222 kg in total throughout the competition, she showed her best result in the 63 kg event. Her biggest competition was teammate Diana Akhmetova.

IBU World Championships Biathlon is up and running - March 2-13, Oslo Holmenkollen, Norway. One of the teammates of the Russian Federation team is our own Tatian Akimova who participates for the first time.

A doping scandal lead to The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) banning Russian Federation athletes from participating in international competitions, which prevented Chuvash sportsmen, too, from attending athletic tournaments.

Tatiana Arhipova missed the Japan marathon which happened in the weekend.

The Chuvash Athletics team trainer Nikolai Panfilov says Natalia Puchkova and Alina Prokopieva's participation in world tournaments is also doubtful.

The 2016 World Race Walking Cup which was to take place in Cheboksary was cancelled last week. Chuvash Sports Minister Sergei Sheltukov says the official cancellation documents haven't yet arrived, therefore the tournament preparations continue as scheduled.

On June 21 cross country biker Irina Kalentieva won 30 points to her UCI rating by winning another international race, this time Argovia Geax-Fischer Bike Cup in Lostorf, Switzerland.

Irina finished first Women Elite group with the time result of 01:25:11 leaving closest competitors 8-9 minutes behind.

Irina, 33, also won in another C2 class biking event - BMC Racing Cup in Yverdon, Switzerland on June 28 with the result 01:30:55.

Chuvash sportswomen grow stronger and stronger. They come back winners from international and national championships.

Our Chuvash girl Irina Kalentieva together with teammates Cristina Kirillova and Nadezhda Antonova represented Russia in the Gara d’apertura Monte Tamaro MTB cross country race in Switzerland.

Irina Kalentieva became first in the Women Elite race finishing the distance in 1:17:48 hrs, defeated Sweden's Jenny Rissveds and Groccia Marine from Swıtzerland.

Sergey Ivanov won the Title of the champion of Russia in run for 3000 meters. The athlete finished the distance in 7 minutes 58.31 seconds. The third prize went to Aleksey Yefimov, Sergey's teammate, who conceded the champion a second. Both the athletes are trained by honored trainer of the Chuvash Republic Anatoly Petrov.

One more bronze medal in the championship of Russia was brought to the team of Chuvashia by the master of sports of the international class Tatyana Petrova, who showed the best world result last year on a distance of 2000 meters with obstacles. Based on the results of the championship the national team of Russian Federation will be formed for the championship of the Europe.

Uljanovsk, Rossia: The Uljanovsk Oblast' Federation of Cӑvash Kӗreshü held a wrestling contest, which was complimented to Hero of Rossia, Colonel of Federal Security Department's Air Force Jurij Nedvigan, who was also present at the contest. 208 competitors from Uljanovsk, Tatarstan, Orenburg, Bashkiria, Perm.

Schoolchildren of Şӗnӗ Jӗlmel, Şӗprel won the contest among youth contest.

The main award, traditionally a ram, was won by Denis Setnerov from Uljanovsk.
